How to configure the WEBcnx plugin

The following article assumes the WEBcnx plugin is already installed, and guides you through how to add it to Impact UI for easy access.

UI Customisation

With the WEBcnx plugin installed, we still need to make it available within the Impact user interface.  This is achieved through appearance customisation, similar to how other toolbar buttons are added.

1. While logged into Impact as the intended user account, right-click on the toolbar, e.g. next to Help, and select Customize...

2. On the Commands tab, scroll down the Categories list and locate 'New Menu Items'.

3. On the right side, under Commands, select 'New Menu Item', it should highlight and turn yellow.

4. Now hold-down the left mouse button and drag the selected New Menu Item command to a suitable location where you want to place a new toolbar button.

5. Now to customise it for its intended usage, to launch the WEBcnx plugin

6. Right-click on the New Menu Item placed on the toolbar, to bring up the available customisation options

7. Enter the name 'WEBcnx' and press Enter / Return key on the keyboard to confirm

8. Right-click again, and this time, choose Change Button Image

9. From the Button Editor form, click Load

10. Browse to the installation directory of the WEBcnx plugin, default path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arden Software Ltd\WEBcnx\Plugin\", select the image file 'WEBcnx Plugin Icon.png'click Open

11. Then click OK to save the button image

12. Right-click the toolbar menu item again, and choose Select Automation

13.Click the [...] button to select the file for the plugin automation file (*.tlb)

14. Browse to the installation directory of the WEBcnx plugin, default path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arden Software Ltd\WEBcnx\Plugin\", select the WEBcnx plugin file 'Plugin.tlb'click Open

15. Click OK on the Select Automation window, then click Close on the Customize dialog to complete the setup.

Clicking the toolbar button for the WEBcnx plugin should now show launch the plugin. If it's for the first time on this Impact version and database, you'll be met with the WEBcnx Settings dialog, where it's required to specify the URL for your WEBcnx site. Refer to the article How to configure the URL for the WEBcnx plugin for the related steps. Your WEBcnx support contacts can help explain the correct URL to use if you're unsure.
