Design Annotation Module

Streamline Design Approvals with Intuitive Annotations

The WEBcnx Design Annotation Module enables customers, salespeople, and production staff to directly annotate designs, clearly communicating required changes to designers. Each drawing layer can be individually marked up, with annotations stored against the specific design version under review. This ensures that all changes are tracked and tied to the relevant approval process.

Reviewers can easily add various annotation shapes — rectangular, oval, or freehand — or insert sticky notes to specify changes. Notes can be included with each annotation, providing detailed instructions on modifications. Each reviewer’s annotations are colour-coded, making it simple to identify contributions from multiple users in the same review cycle. Designers can seamlessly access all annotations via the WEBcnx plugin in Impact, helping to streamline the revision process.

Key Benefits:

  • Enhanced Communication: Customers, sales, and production staff can directly annotate designs, reducing the need for lengthy back-and-forth communication and ensuring clear, concise requests for changes.
  • Layer-Specific Annotations: Annotations are tied to individual drawing layers and specific design versions, ensuring detailed, version-specific feedback.
  • User-Specific Colour Coding: Annotations from multiple reviewers are easy to distinguish, with each user’s contributions highlighted in a unique colour.
  • Designers Stay in the Loop: Designers no longer need to search through emails, marked-up sample designs, or printed reports to find feedback. All annotations are available in one convenient location within Impact, allowing them to quickly review and implement changes, reducing time spent on administrative tasks and enabling them to focus on design work.
  • Version Tracking & Control: Annotations are locked to the version under review, ensuring consistency and preventing unauthorised changes.

Related Modules

Benefit When Combined with Task and Workflow Management Module

When paired with the Task and Workflow Management Module, the Design Annotation Module offers even more power by fully integrating design approval workflows. The task management system handles the creation, distribution, and tracking of design approval instructions, ensuring that customers, sales, and production staff receive clear notifications about required approvals and modifications. This allows the entire design review and approval process to be automated and efficiently managed, reducing delays and errors while keeping all stakeholders aligned.

Streamline Approval Cycles with the Standards Library

When paired with the Standards Library, the Design Annotation Module enables users to streamline design approval and modification cycles, even for designs that haven’t yet been reviewed by a designer. This ensures that simple, automated designs can still be checked over for critical factors, such as board grade and panel size suitability. Annotations made on these designs help ensure they meet the required specifications before moving into production, reducing the risk of errors in the final product.

Refine Production Layouts with the Layout Module

Combining the Layout Module with the Design Annotation Module enhances the ability of estimators and production staff to create layouts. These layouts can be annotated to highlight any production changes needed, providing clear instructions for designers. This allows for efficient collaboration between production and design teams, ensuring that layouts are refined and optimised before they move into the production stage.

Module Dependencies

To utilise the Design Annotation Module, customers must have the Design Library Module. This ensures seamless access to design information, allowing users to annotate, review, and manage design files.
